What was your favorite superhero as a kid (not now!)

There are plenty of important things to discuss...but I am on vacation and have been sketching in my sketchbook...well...fanboy art.

After reading an article by Glen Whelden, NPR's Monkey See: Never Trust the Kid Who
Always Wanted to be Thor ( http://www.npr.org/blogs/monkeysee/2008/09/never_trust_the_kid_who_always_1.html#more ) (linked to a less appealing article, but more current criticizing the new Thor movie in production...see my comment on that)...I wondered what could be the geekiest thing I could do...delve into my memory and find what was my favorite superhero, discus and then ask you to think of yours and think what it meant about you...read Whelden's article to get an idea (you don't have to live the media, politics, high school world he seems to).

While I certainly admire and wouldn't mind having some of the abilities of Shadow Cat (X-Men), Skids (X-Factor), The Weird (DC), and my second choice Antibody from D.P.7 (you get the picture I like the ones you have never heard of or remember)...the clear choices is and always has been LONGSHOT (X-Men).

So What does this mean...I wouldn't mind the obvious "Luck"...who wouldn't. I think I like the Spider-Man like agility and hollow bones makes you feel like you can float (which I do in my dreams...not fly, sorry sups). I think it may have to do with throwing those cool throwing blades, but mostly I like that he can touch and object and bring thoughts and experiences of others to his mind...the storyteller in me can't resist this. He has a persona that is honorably, warrior based, but grounded initially in a child innocence from loss of memory that is both hilarious, approachable and refreshing. I love this quality. I have always hated his mullet and I am less fond of his leather, but the guy is unique, fun and not afraid to tackle the worlds problems. I would certainly say he had his own path and way and this lead to an unpredictable future.

People who like Longshot, work odd service jobs, end up working with people with chronic pain, become art teachers and/or cartoonists.

So what's yours?
